Kumho, one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers, and the Formula 3 Euro Series, the planet’s most competitive young gun series, continue their exclusive partnership.
This week, the contract that has been running since 2003 was extended up to and including 2011. Consequently, all the racing cars contesting the series will continue to do so on Kumho’s Ecsta tyre.
Today’s Formula 1 aces Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Timo Glock, Adrian Sutil, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica also gathered the majority of their experiences at the wheel of Kumho shod Formula 3 single seaters before being promoted to the pinnacle of motor racing.
Outstanding quality, continuous tyre enhancement and an exemplary technical support for the teams were the crucial factors for the long term orientation of the extended contract.
“The teams are very happy with the tyres’ consistent performance level representing the basis for good motor racing,” said Walter Mertes, Managing Director of the Formula 3 Euro Series Marketing GmbH.
Since the foundation of the Formula 3 Euro Series, Kumho Tire Europe has been its exclusive tyre partner. In the 2008 season alone, Kumho supplied the teams with some 8,000 slicks and about 1,500 wets.
Furthermore, the tyre manufacturer whose European headquarters are located in Offenbach am Main supplies all the Korean as well as European car companies such as Volkswagen or Mercedes-Benz with production tyres, as original equipment manufacturer.
