ImageBritish circuit Brands Hatch will play host to International Formula Master's (IFM) fortieth race this weekend as the Series' young drivers compete in rounds seven and eight of the current season.

Photo credit Formula MasterSunday's race, a 45 minute session, will mark IFM's fortieth round since the Series first took to the track in May 2007.

In the 26 months that have followed, IFM has seen two champions emerge, Belgium's Jérôme D'Ambrosio, now racing in the GP2 Series for his second season, and New Zealander Chris van der Drift, currently competing in World Series by Renault.

The third is still undecided, although Swiss Fabio Leimer has led the title chase all season, with rookies Pål Varhaug, Alessandro Kouzkin and most recently Alexander Rossi giving chase.

"Winning the last round in Brno definitely broke a barrier," said Rossi. "It means coming to Brands Hatch in a much stronger position."

"We still have a lot of work to do to be consistently at the top as Fabio [Leimer] and Jenzer Motorsport have done very well up until now but we are going to Brands Hatch looking for more strong results."

International Formula Master's English race weekend gets underway this Friday with two free practice sessions followed by qualifying, whilst race one will take place on Saturday, and race two on Sunday.
