ImageFormula One report - Day 3 of the pre-season group test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.

Circuit: Catalunya Circuit, Montmelò – 4.655 km
Driver: Felipe Massa
Car: Ferrari F10
Weather: air temperature 8/15 °C, track temperature 10/16 °C. Overcast, with rain at times.

Third day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro and ten other teams, at the Catalunya Circuit, near Barcelona.

Today’s session was affected by intermittent light rain, which fell throughout the morning and then again right at the start of the afternoon, leaving the track either wet or damp for several hours.

Felipe Massa, driving for the first time this year on this circuit, concentrated mainly on some set-up work and then, in the afternoon, he carried out a race simulation, which was completed successfully.

The Brazilian driver drove a total of 115 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.22.344.

Testing at this circuit continues tomorrow, again with Felipe Massa on track for the Scuderia.

Start of last test weekend for Formula 1

Less than 14 hours are left for the eleven teams working at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona in the last test session before the start of the 2010 Championship.

Today Felipe Massa goes onto the track for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro with an upgraded F10 with new aerodynamic solutions introduced for this test session.

Felipe started his work by evaluating the car’s set up, but was slowed down by some rain, which started to fall around 10:20am. Until then the Brazilian had driven 26 laps, the fastest in a time of 1.23.490.

Today’s fastest lap time so far is 1.20.686 by Nico Rosberg.

More rain at tests in Barcelona

The rain is back at the tests held by the Formula 1 teams on the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona.

This morning the teams and the eleven drivers had a mere 80 minutes, with Felipe Massa behind the wheel for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, on a dry track, they then had to wait until after the lunch break.

Felipe completed several series of laps on the wet, but the grip was extremely bad.

Therefore the team decided to anticipate some of the work on the planned for the evening and the F10 went back onto the track just after 2:30pm.

Until that moment the car had done 50 laps, the fastest in 1.29.687. The fastest lap time of the day was 1.20.686 driven by Rosberg this morning.
