Another Le Mans Series classic, the 1000 Km of Silverstone, traditionally established as final race of the 2010 season.
Held over 3 days, the British race is always one of all challenges for the teams and drivers, such as Jean-Christophe Boullion in 2009, admired by all for his incredible comeback trying to win against all odds until the very last moment.
Since 1905, endurance racing has enjoyed an important role among British racing concerns with the creation of the Tourist Trophy and since 1976, whether it is for six hours or 1000kms, all the endurance championships have competed at Silverstone.
The Audi - Peugeot duel ended in victory for the French manufacturer with the two HDiFAPs, the #1 and the #4 cars on the two top steps of the podium and awarding ORECA Matmut the team title.
Peugeot gains the manufacturer title and Stephane Sarrazin the Drivers.
As the 2010 season is now over, the winners will party tonight to celebrate their titles, in the end, Team ORECA Matmut and Peugeot, as a manufacturer, came away with everything, and Audi with nothing.
Stephane Sarrazin started the 1,000Km of Silverstone as title favourite and duly ended it as champion for the second time.
Nicolas Minassian and Anthony Davidson snatched a strong overall victory while Strakka Racing took a brilliant victory in the LMP2 class.
No surprises in the LMGT1 where Larbre Competition was the only team of the category on the track and had the title in the bag from Hungary.
Jody Firth and Warren Hughes brought a third trophy home this weekend thanks to FLM, and AF Corse Ferrari secured their second win of the season.
In LMGT2, Ferrari #96 of Team AF Corse finally beat its contenders after over five hours of suspense and the #44 FLM fended off the challenge of the sister #47 car.
Despite a few rain drops, the track has remained dry the whole race and no Safety Car period disturbed the course of the race.
This final 2010 Le Mans Series race offered the 40,000 spectators at Silverstone a very exciting show.
