Monday, 02 May 2011 03:00
Superleague Formula will see the championship embark on a World Cup, with races on four different continents this season.

The championship, which is about to begin its fourth season of racing, will get underway at one of its traditional venues, Assen in the Netherlands on June 4/5, before heading to Zolder in Belgium in July.

Superleague Formula World Cup will then make a piece of motorsport history by becoming the first major international single seater championship to race in Russia, with the Superleague Formula Grand Prix of Russia at the Smolensk Ring.

Beijing will then host the Superleague Formula World Cup, as the series returns to China for the second consecutive season.

Brazil will then be the venue for two separate race weekends, as Superleague Formula visits South America for the first time ever, marking the third continent of the Superleague Formula World Cup calendar.

The Middle East will be the next region to welcome the 2011 championship season.

The fourth and final continent to be visited by Superleague Formula World Cup in 2011 will be Australasia, with the final race of the season taking place in New Zealand.

Robin Webb - Superleague Formula Director of Competition
“Superleague Formula is now set to become a fully fledged global series, which has been high amongst our objectives even prior to our very first race. If someone had told me a year ago that we would be racing a World Cup on four continents then I would have found it hard to believe.

"It makes me immensely proud of the championship, it´s drivers, teams, sponsors and also those behind the scenes who have made this happen. It puts us in front of a huge global audience and gives us great foundations to build upon for 2012.”
