World Touring Car Championship results of Race 1 and Race 2 from Monza - Rob Huff walked out of Monza with two more victories and a gap of 36 and 41 points respectively ahead of his team-mates Yvan Muller and Alain Menu, which equates to staking an early claim on the world title.

Race 1 - Weather/Track: Sun 19C/Dry 37C

Rob Huff emerged as the winner after an extremely tough fight with his Chevrolet team-mates Yvan Muller and Alain Menu.

The three drivers and their Cruze cars gave battle each other from the rolling start and did not spared blows that were sometimes at the limit of the fair driving.

The fight ended with a clash between Muller and Menu that sent the latter spinning against the barriers and out of the race.

Another exciting fight, though very fair, was fought for third place between Tiago Monteiro, Norbert Michelisz, Tom Coronel and Kristian Poulsen.

The conclusion saw Monteiro sprinting ahead of Michelisz by 0.030 seconds to grab the final spot on the podium, while the young Hungarian contented himself with victory in the Yokohama Trophy.

Darryl O’Young, Javier Villa, Franz Engstler and Fredy Barth rounded up the top ten, with latter winning the Jay-Ten Trophy.

Race 2 - Weather/Track: Sun 18C/Dry 34C

Rob Huff claimed his second victory of the day and the fourth for him out of the six races held so far this season.

Just like in Race 1 he had to defend himself from Chevrolet fellow drivers. In this case, with Alain Menu starting from the back of the grid after his incident in the previous race, Huff was put under huge pressure from Yvan Muller.

Lap after lap the two of them braked together at the end of the long straight, swapping the doors’ paint, lap after lap they braked later and later at the Parabolica, trying to win the slightest advantage.

The fight culminated in Muller’s car biting Huff’s rear bumper in a cloud of smoke on lap 6.

The fight behind them was not less thrilling, with Tiago Monteiro, Norbert Michelisz, Kristian Poulsen, Gabriele Tarquini and Darryl O’Young swapping positions at every lap.

When Poulsen was able to secure a small gap in third position, the others were joined by Franz Engstler, Javier Villa and a recovering Menu and eventually stormed on the finishing line in a close bunch.

Poulsen won the Yokohama Trophy, while Pepe Oriola secure victory in the Jay-Ten Trophy.
