  MotoGP results of the qualifying session at the circuit in Barcelona - After just missing out on securing the top grid slot in France by 0.059s Italian Marco 'Super Sic' Simoncelli on the San Carlo Honda Gresini proved his pedigree by setting the fastest time of the weekend at the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya to shock and pleasantly surprise fans, commentators and everyone watching, claiming his maiden pole position in the premier class of the championship ahead of Casey Stoner on the Repsol Honda just under 200th of a second slower and Yamaha's reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo, who completes the front row in third place in his home Grand Prix.

MotoGP results of the practice session at the circuit in Barcelona - After Colin Edwards crashed on Friday breaking his collarbone and going for treatment at the same medics that attended to a similar injury suffered in Le Mans by the missing Dani Pedrosa, the depleted field of 15 riders in the premier class of world motorcycle racing, after heavy rains the night before at Montmelo, took to the damp and slippery track on Saturday morning with Casey Stoner on the Repsol Honda once again continuing to show his dominance by setting a time of 1'42.691, just 0.122 ahead of the Yamaha of Jorge Lorenzo, the San Carlo Honda Gresini machine of Marco Simoncelli. the only Texan left in the race, Ben Spies on the Yamaha and the second Repsol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso.
