On Sunday at the Michigan International Speedway, Denny Hamlin drove to his first NASCAR Sprint Cup victory of the year, holding off Matt Kenseth after both drivers appeared headed for a fuel mileage finish, a late caution enabled them to make pit stops before a furious final five lap sprint.

Even without a spin during Friday's practice, Kurt Busch broke his routine at Michigan International Speedway to win his third consecutive Sprint Cup pole, the 15th of his career, for Sunday's Heluva Good! 400 at the 2 mile track when he completed his first lap in 38.156 seconds (188.699 mph) and edged David Reutimann by 0.003 seconds for Penske's fourth consecutive pole position streak started by Brad Keselowski at Charlotte in May.

Sunday's 5-Hour Energy 500 at Pocono Raceway showed that the 39 year old (40 in August) Jeff Gordon may be starting to feel his age, but he certainly didn't show it and still knows how to win races.

Though it may be deemed as unconventional, the method behind the madness, or the madness behind the method definitely seems to work for Kurt Busch as he won the pole for Sunday's 5 Hour Energy 500 at Pocono Raceway after spinning his #22 Dodge in Friday's practice and doing enough damage to force the use of a backup car.

In Sunday's STP 400 at Kansas Speedway, winning his first Sprint Cup race of the season, the second victory of his 66 race career and the first for Penske Racing since Kurt Busch last year in the Coca-Cola 600, Brad Keselowski stretched his fuel mileage to the maximum and got 57 green flag laps out of his last tank of fuel preventing his old boss at JR Motorsports and race runner up, Dale Earnhardt Jr., from ending a drought that has now extended to 106 races.

Kurt Busch has never performed very well in Kansas, and a spin during Friday practice didn't make it look as if he was about to make any changes to that statistic, but a few adjustments and a day later at the 1.5 mile Kansas Speedway, he topped the leaderboard at 174.752 mph in his #22 Dodge to reverse a decade of poor Kansas fortune and secure his first pole since Michigan last June and the 13th of his career.

Coming out of the final turn of the Coca-Cola 600 Kevin Harvick passed the out of fuel Dale Earnhardt Jr, who had jumped out to a sizeable lead on the final restart, to take the win in NASCAR's longest race of the year on Sunday night at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
