 NASCAR announced on Tuesday that Robby Gordon, driver of the #7 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been placed on probation until December 31 for a rule infraction he committed on March 4 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

 Carl Edwards captured his 19th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win with Sunday's victory, the 121st all time NSCS win for Roush Fenway Racing putting Edwards on a three race NSCS winning streak after capturing the last two races of 2010 and Roush Fenway Racing now having won half of the NSCS races at Las Vegas, 7 of 14.

 A pit mistake by Tony Stewart's crew which lead to a penalty after dragging an air wrench from his stall under caution on Lap 155, opened the door for the #99 Ford driven by Carl Edwards to cross the finish line 1.246 seconds ahead of Stewart's #14 Chevrolet earning his first victory of the season in Sunday's Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

 After Brad Keselowski collided with the wall, Mark Martin went on to win the Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway while Andretti Autosport IndyCar racer Danica Patrick finished a career best and making history in the process by finishing in fourth.

Qualifying Note: Carl Edwards put Mustang on the pole for the first time with a time of 26.669 and lap speed of 181.824 in qualifying for the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a pole position which marks the first for Mustang since becoming the full time NNS car for Ford this season and for Edwards it was his 22nd pole in 214 NNS races, tied for 5th most all time.

On Friday Matt Kenseth set a new Las Vegas Motor Speedway lap record with a speed of 188.884mph to beat the 188.719 set by Kurt Busch last year to claim pole position and attempt to break his 72 race winless streak for Sunday's race.

David Gilliland currently stands 10th in the updated points standings heading into Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and has used a third place finish at Daytona and 22nd place finish last weekend at Phoenix for 63 points, 17 points behind leader Kyle Busch.

AJ Allmendinger followed up an 11th place finish in last week's Daytona 500 with a 9th place run in Sunday's Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, Trevor Bayne, who won the Daytona 500, was involved in an accident early and finished 40th.
